Renowned for his photographs produced through original optical techniques, Olivo Barbieri presents his first solo exhibition in Türkiye at Borusan Contemporary, inviting viewers on a visual journey across diverse geographies. Curated by Fırat Arapoğlu, the exhibition brings together five thematic series spanning more than four decades of the artist’s practice, alongside works commissioned for the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection that focus on the ancient cities of Anatolia.

From ancient cities and global metropolises to waterfalls, Alpine peaks, and the shores of Capri, Barbieri’s photographs transform familiar landscapes into images that are both unexpected and almost surreal. Reinterpreting cities, landscapes, and architectural structures through his distinctive photographic language, the artist challenges conventional ways of seeing. By manipulating scale, perspective, and spatial perception, the exhibition invites viewers not only to look differently, but also to reconsider and reflect upon the world they live in.
