Talks On Edip Cansever - II

29 March 2022 Tue

Family Life and Personality of the Poet
Guest: Ömer Cansever

Considered as one of the most important figures in contemporary Turkish poetry, Edip Cansever (1928-1986) created an impressive world of imagery through reviewing the relations between the inner life of the individual and his various surroundings since his first book İkindi Üstü. Poetics of Cansever grew out of the reference systems integrating his own life, inner circle and family. Readers often encounter with these references which deeply influence not only the personality of the poet but also his works.

This talk with Edip Cansever’s son Ömer Cansever will be focusing on the personality, family life and psychology of the poet. The talk will be moderated by curator Dr. Necmi Sönmez who arranged the new collection exhibition at Borusan Contemporary by looking at Cansever’s poem Water Reverie. We kindly invite the audience to discover the lesser-known traits of the poet.
