A Selection from “Edward Burtynsky: Shifting Topography” in Antalya
A selection from Edward Burtynsky: Shifting Topography, the first major solo exhibition in Türkiye by Edward Burtynsky, one of the leading figures in contemporary photography, brings together art lovers and experts in sustainability and climate at Akra Antalya from November 9–20, 2026 during COP31. Presented in collaboration with Borusan Holding and Borusan Contemporary, the exhibition contributes to dialogue on climate and sustainability through the transformative power of art.
Edward Burtynsky’s first major solo exhibition in Türkiye, presented at Perili Köşk (Haunted Mansion) during the 2025–2026 season, Shifting Topography focuses on humanity’s impact on the Earth and the ecological legacy this impact will leave for future generations. The artist explores industrial production sites, mines, and agricultural landscapes through expansive landscape works, making visible the traces left behind by progress.
A highlight of the selection is the Erosion series (2022), commissioned by the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection and realized with the support of the TEMA Foundation. Comprising aerial photographs taken across Anatolia, the series brings the millennia-old memory of the land and human intervention into view within the same frame.
The photographs are accompanied by the 22-minute immersive multimedia experience In the Wake of Progress (2022), which combines the artist’s decades-long body of work with music by award-winning composer Phil Strong. Presented in Türkiye for the first time, the work brings together visual beauty and a powerful sense of confrontation.
