A prominent international name in photography, Finnish artist Ola Kolehmainen is represented in the Borusan Contemporary Collection with numerous works. The “Sinan Project” was commissioned by Borusan Contemporary and the artist realized the project over a two-year period from 2012 to 2014. In the words of the curator of the exhibition, Necmi Sönmez, PhD, “The artist is particularly interested in how light was used in architectural structures that Architect Sinan designed. The artist researched the light in the spaces over the course of months and seasons, considering what time during the day would be best to make the images, where and how to place the camera. When looking at the works of Sinan, the artist took into consideration Hagia Sophia, Little Hagia Sophia, Chora, wandering through different centuries and cultures to collect visual notes on ‘architectural forms’ that helped Sinan’s style mature over time. All of these notes constitute the foundation of the ‘Sinan Project.’”

This special project exhibition at the Borusan Contemporary is accompanied by 50 folios that have been signed and numbered by the artist, Ola Kolehmainen: Sinan Projesi | Sinan Project.
