19 April 2026 Sun 16:00 - 18:00

Workshop for Adults

Date:12 April 2026, 19 April 2026, 3 May 2026
Time: 12.00–14.00

Organized by Kuş Kolektifi (Bird Collective), this workshop brings participants into dialogue with the exhibition Edward Burtynsky: Shifting Topography. Led by Kuş Kolektifi founder Yaz Güvendi alongside musician and composer Akın Orbay, the program combines observation and collective production to foster a deeper sensory connection with nature.

The workshop begins with a short birdwatching walk around Rumelihisarı and Perili Köşk. Participants are introduced to the basics of birdwatching while documenting the species encountered along the route. The session also includes conversations about birds’ vocalizations, behaviors, and habitats.

Following the birdwatching session, the workshop continues within Edward Burtynsky: Shifting Topography at Borusan Contemporary. Through the photographs featured in the exhibition, participants reflect on ecological transformation, human intervention, and environmental degradation, relating these themes to the changes observed in birds’ habitats.

In the production section of the workshop, participants listen to digitally archived bird sounds and various musical elements under the guidance of musician and composer Akın Orbay. Together, they select and arrange these sounds to create a collective musical composition.

About Kuş Kolektifi
Kuş Kolektifi is an interdisciplinary initiative that brings together art, nature, and communities through original music projects that combine the sounds of endangered birds with those of disappearing musical instruments. Through these projects, the collective aims to raise awareness about nature conservation while making birdwatching more visible and accessible in Türkiye.
